Cantilevers and Voids
2018
A series of images that blur the natural and artificial traits to produce artifacts of ambigous material properties and sources. Above, cairns taken from a 2-D photograph are modeled in 3D, reconfigured, and reassembled to challenge the narratives around the digital and the analog. Today, designers contend with the tension of digital modeling, material displacement, and inexact fabrication to test and expand the visual and textural library of the discipline. The combining of both digital and natural processes simultaneously works for and against everyday materials and the unknown, ultimately discovering intentionality within ambiguity.
